Five Pattern Pairings to Jumpstart Your Spring Style
Spring is that slightly magical season when sewing projects get pulled back out with renewed enthusiasm. The days grow longer, the sun finally shows up, and suddenly you want to sew everything. But where to start? To help you build a seasonal wardrobe, we’ve imagined five spring outings and the handmade outfits to match.
1. Brunch on the Terrace

The first genuinely warm day of the year. You’re outside with friends, coffee in hand, sun on your shoulders â and you want to look good without overthinking it.
The palette: off-white, pale yellow, soft apricot, dusty rose.
The fabrics: lightweight linen, cotton poplin, and eyelet.
For this outing, we’re reaching for breathable, gently textured pieces. The Lilas dress, View B, with its fitted bustier bodice and shoulder ties, is the perfect candidate: in ivory eyelet or blush linen, it has that effortless-yet-put-together quality. If you prefer separates, the Airelle blouse paired with the Chardon skirt makes for a coordinated ensemble that feels light and easy.
2. A Day at the Farmers’ Market

Wicker basket, bunches of flowers, the first strawberries of the season… The spring market calls for a cottagecore vibe, or a casual + classic approach.
The palette: terracotta, sage green, mustard, cream, rust.
The fabrics: gingham, small floral prints on an ecru base, brushed linen, and chambray.
This is the perfect playground for the Lilas dress, View A, its fitted midi-length skirt with bow-tied sleeves is exactly what you’d picture in blue gingham or seersucker plaid. If you prefer a more relaxed silhouette, the BruyĂšre shirt worn slightly oversized with the Fumeterre skirt in olive chambray ticks every box.
3. An Art Opening or Gallery Visit

A cultural evening, relaxed but considered. You’re not dressing for a wedding, but you do want to look like you gave it some thought. The perfect occasion for a statement piece.
The palette: graphic black and white, or muted tones â slate, plum, bottle green.
The fabrics: viscose crepe, matte satin, lightweight jacquard.
Two strong options here: the Sirocco Jumpsuit in chic black or a pop colour for an unexpected take. Or the Mistral dress in a maxi woven version (V-neckline, dolman sleeves, gathered waist) in Tencel twill or a substantial viscose. Its quiet sophistication makes it ideal for an evening where you want to feel at ease while turning heads.
4. A Hike or Forest Picnic

Beautiful and practical, that’s the whole point of sewing your own clothes, isn’t it? This outing is the perfect chance to show that a handmade wardrobe can be functional, comfortable, and thoughtful all at once.
The palette: khaki, moss green, hazelnut brown, natural beige, and touches of burgundy.
The fabrics: cotton twill, light denim, cotton jersey.
Here, we’re thinking layers and freedom of movement. The FougĂšre overshirt is the centrepiece: worn open over the free Plantain t-shirt, with the GenĂȘt pants in khaki cotton twill, you get an all-terrain outfit that doesn’t sacrifice a thing on style. For warmer days, the Goji shorts make a great swap.
5. A Weekend by the Sea or in the Countryside

Pack light, sew smart. For this spring getaway, we want versatile pieces that layer, mix, and don’t wrinkle at the bottom of a bag.
The palette: butter yellow, coral, white, sand, indigo.
The fabrics: lightweight cotton, double gauze, fluid linen, cotton jersey.
The Myosotis dress in a lightweight denim or soft cotton earns its place in the bag without weighing it down. To build a mini capsule wardrobe, pair the Hysope blouse with the Agave skirt in fluid linen â two pieces you can rework across the entire trip.
